Reconciling Accounts: The Boring Job That Prevents the Big Emergency

Nobody gets excited about reconciling accounts. I get it — it's not glamorous work. But it's the equivalent of checking your equipment before a call. Boring, repetitive, and the exact thing that keeps a small problem from becoming a disaster.

Reconciling is just making sure what your books say matches what actually happened in your bank account. Sounds simple. It's also where I catch duplicate charges, missed deposits, subscriptions nobody remembers signing up for, and outright errors — all the small stuff that adds up to a real number if it goes unnoticed long enough.

Skip it for a few months and you're not just behind on data entry. You're flying without knowing your real numbers, and that's a bad place to make decisions from.
